About the Author
William Spurstowe (1605–1666) was educated at Emmanuel College, Cambridge. His first pastorate was at Great Hampden in Buckinghamshire, where he was installed in 1638. In 1643 Spurstowe was chosen to attend the Westminster Assembly as a Presbyterian. Spurstowe served the parliament of Richard Cromwell alongside Edward Reynolds, Thomas Manton, and other Puritan ministers. He was also one of the ejected ministers of 1662.

When one realizes that love for the Word of God is from the love of the Spirit of God within, a thirst for the water of life is sought. The Wells of Salvation Opened, by William Spurstowe, is a call to the thirsty to come and drink the refreshing promises. This small treatise is one that I have to read and read and opens my faith and trust. Nothing that I can say is better said than by Spurstowe,
Pg. 58... The Promises are wells of salvation flowing with the waters of life, but yet the strong Christian that expects to be refreshed by them must be at pains to draw water out of them... Isa. 12:3 Pg. 62-63... "Meditate Seriously, Frequently on the Promises... The believer's looking upon a promise not unlike... his eye sees haply a star or two... but looks again and their luster and number are increased... from every quarter, with numberless multitude of stars, is richly enameled as with so many golden studs."

In Job's search for wisdom, he said, But where shall wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding? Man does not know its worth, it is not found in the land of the living. It cannot be valued in the gold of Ophir, in precious onyx or sapphire. However, William Spurstowe's "The Wells of Salvation Opened" explains that the wisdom of the Great Gospel of God abundantly and vastly exceeds the "stuff" of the earth. and "the souls of all the men in the world."
